Flash Gordon is a science fiction story created by cartoonist Alex Raymond cartoonist Alex Raymond in 1934 for King Features Syndicate, as a Sunday strip , and later continued by various scriptwriters and cartoonists, among whom Dan Barry also stands out. Emerged to compete with the adventures of Buck Rogers, it quickly developed a much greater and more lasting success over time. It was adapted to television and film, and was possibly the best-known icon of visual science fiction until the appearance of Star Wars, the famous Star Wars.
